A Virtual Event Northern Ohio Business Brokers Association
February 23, 11:45 AM – 1:15 PM
Online
In 2021 we had several very effective virtual meetings with out-of-town talent like Monty Walker, Ron West, and our own Steve Mariani of Diamond Financial. February is a rather short month and is typically bitter cold in Ohio. I thought that adding one virtual meeting (Covid or not) to our schedule would be a welcome opportunity to stay warm and hear from our friend Tom Spadea of Spadea Lignana, Franchise Attorneys out of Philadelphia PA. Some of you may remember Tom from a very successful event we hosted a few years ago when we were meeting at the Oak Barrel.
Tom is an expert franchise attorney and represents both franchisees and franchisors. He is an expert in franchise agreements and franchise disclosure documents containing confusing “Item 19” disclosures. What I love about Tom is that he started as a business broker and as such has great respect for our industry.
And since we are on the subject of Franchises, we will also be having a virtual “Associate Member Spotlight” with Terese McGroarty of FranNet! FranNet is one of the largest and best known Franchise brokers in the country and Terese will be talking with us as to how she helps people find the right franchise opportunity for them.

CABB 250 – Legal Aspects of Business Sales in California
February 24 – 25
Online
This 2-day, 7-hour course is designed for California business brokers at all experience levels. The purpose of this course is to examine a variety of aspects of small business transactions from a legal perspective and gain a better understanding of the way attorneys view transactions. By having a better understanding of the legal aspects and attorney viewpoints, brokers will be in a position to (a) foresee potential issues before they arise, (b) have more informed conversations with attorneys which may help them save transactions from “death by lawyer”, (c) be able to better represent their clients by identifying and addressing issues that may create unwanted legal liability, (d) preserve and protect their broker fees, and (e) avoid litigation and stay out of court.
